The CEO Blog - What’s Behind that tarp in Behchokǫ̀!

As many of you know we have started the construction of the Behchokǫ̀ Cultural Center, after the previous structure was demolished back in November. Many people want to know … .what’s behind the tarp?
I have added some pictures here to show what is back there.

It is a very complex wall structure being constructed directly on rock of differing levels. One that is very difficult and time-consuming to build forms to make it perfect. The staff is toasty warm in the heated tent, and work continues seven days per week.
This is a two-year project that will be a showcase for the Tłı̨chǫ people to be proud of and enjoy attending events for years to come.

The Director of Construction for the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation, Paul Gourlay took me for a short tour this past weekend, and the work that has been completed thus far has been quite amazing.
I look forward to sharing the progress on this project over the next few months, as it grows to over 8,000 sq. ft. in size on the shoreline.

I wanted to share the progress of this project today, and let you know that I will be sharing more of our projects and important items regularly to let everyone know across the communities the progress that we are making.

Upcoming:

  • Tłı̨chǫ All-Season Road

  • Gamèti Motel

  • And many others!
