Community Operations Manager Trainee – All Tłı̨chǫ Communities

Tłı̨chǫ Retail Operations (TRO) is 100% Indigenous owned by the Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC) and has 100% ownership of three retail stores and motels; also operating a petroleum, oil, lubricant (POL) division (community fuel delivery/gas station) in each of the Tłı̨chǫ communities of Whatì, Gamètì, and Wekweètì, NT.

We are looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn and grow into future leadership roles. Tłı̨chǫ Retail Operations is now recruiting for a Community Operations Manager Trainee, based in Gamètì, NT.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in developing their skills in retail, hospitality, and petroleum operations, while gaining hands-on training and mentorship from experienced leaders.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Community Operations Manager, the Trainee will learn to support the day-to-day operations of the community store, motel, and petroleum/oil/lube (POL) division. Through guided training and practical experience, the Trainee will develop the skills needed to eventually take on greater responsibilities in customer service, financial accountability, staff coordination, and community engagement.

 

Responsibilities (Training Focus)

As a Trainee, you will work alongside the Community Operations Manager to learn how to:

  • Support daily operations of the store, motel, and POL services
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain positive community relationships
  • Assist with staff scheduling, recruitment, and training activities
  • Contribute to a safe, clean, and well-organized workplace
  • Handle monetary transactions responsibly and accurately
  • Support inventory management, pricing, and ordering
  • Gain experience preparing reports and providing information to the finance team
  • Participate in community engagement activities that promote TIC operations

Skills & Qualifications

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from mentors
  • Ability to work independently as skills develop
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; willingness to learn UKG Pro)
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence required
  • Ability to speak and/or understand the Tłı̨chǫ language is a strong asset
  • Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience is an asset, but not required
