The Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC) has 100% ownership of three retail stores and motels and operates petroleum, oil, lubricant division (community fuel delivery/gas station) in each of the beautiful Tłı̨chǫ communities of Whati, Wekweetì, and Gamètì.  We are seeking to build our management team within those communities and are sourcing applicants for the following role, located in Gamètì, NT. 

Reporting to the Community Operations Leader,  the Community Operations Manager will be responsible for providing day-to-day oversight and management of the community store, motel, and petroleum/oil/lube division, while ensuring excellent customer service and financial accountability/management.  You will lead the store/motel/POL team in the execution of the organization's action plan and oversee all activities to ensure that customer service standards and performance targets are achieved. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Oversee all aspects of the operations of the community store and motel, including its fuel services (POL), division 

 

·         Represent the company in its dealings with customers, the general public, and governments

 

·         Maintain excellent customer relations and quality services

 

·         Coordinate staff recruitment and training of staff

 

·         In conjunction with the Community Operations Leader, develop performance objectives for each staff member and perform annual and mid-year performance assessments

 

·         In conjunction with the Community Operations Leader, identify staff training and organize seminars, workshops, and instructional training relevant to their roles

 

·         Supervise and manage staff performance on a day to day basis

 

·         Follow, apply, and adhere to Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC) established policies and procedures

 

·         Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment for employees and customers

 

·         Manage monetary/financial transactions responsibly and diligently

 

·         Ensure pricing of products/services/accommodations is in line with established guidelines and practices

 

·         Provide daily financial reports and information to TIC’s finance team in a timely manner with the ability to respond to specific inquiries knowledgeably and accurately

 

·         Manage and maintain product inventory records

 

·         Provide input into the annual operating budgets and provide recommendations on budget changes

 

 Skills/Qualifications:

 

·         Committed to relocating and embracing life in a remote indigenous community in Northern Canada;

 

·         Great organizational skills;

 

·         Excellent communication, leadership, training, and mentoring skills;

 

·         Ability to work independently and productively;

 

·         Ability to identify hazards and assist with removing/fixing safety hazards;

 

·         Strong Computer Skills using Microsoft Office and Quickbooks;

 

·         Personal commitment to participating in community relations activities to support community development and further the Tlicho Retail Operations and hospitality brands;

 

·         Ability and desire to develop an in-depth understanding of our customers and values;

 

·         Extensive knowledge of retail merchandising and operational execution practices;

 

·         Must have previous experience in retail and hospitality environments;

 

·         Minimum 5 years retail management experience;

 

·        University degree in a business-related field considered an asset;

 

·         Class 5 Drivers license required;

 

·         Ability to speak the Tlicho Language considered an asset
