As we all do our jobs day in and day out everything we do becomes routine, this is when complacency sets into our daily work place. We all must remember that each day brings us a new challenge which in turn brings new risks that have to be addressed to remain safe on the job or at home. We must stay alert each day and address the risks in a timely matter in order to remain safe and productive.

Over the past few weeks we have heard of the wildfires in all parts of our territory and in Canada, with these fires they bring poor air quality which has an effect on all of us. Wildfire smoke can harm you in multiple ways. Smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your respiratory system, and worsen chronic heart and lung diseases. This fact sheet tells you how you can protect your health and be safe if you are exposed to wildfire smoke.
With the next couple months are typically the warmest, we should be reminded of heat related injuries. The number one thing we can do to avoid heat related injuries is to stay hydrated and pay attention to the our body’s reaction.
