Over the past few weeks we have heard of the wildfires in all parts of our territory and in Canada, with these fires they bring poor air quality which has an effect on all of us. Wildfire smoke can harm you in multiple ways. Smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your respiratory system, and worsen chronic heart and lung diseases. This fact sheet tells you how you can protect your health and be safe if you are exposed to wildfire smoke.
With the next couple months are typically the warmest, we should be reminded of heat related injuries. The number one thing we can do to avoid heat related injuries is to stay hydrated and pay attention to the our body’s reaction.

The previous years has made many people more aware of the exposure control planning process, as it helped to protect us from COVID-19. The same step-by-step process is useful for all types of workplace safety planning. Often called the “hierarchy of controls,” the steps seen below reflect the process for finding the correct equipment and keep workers safe at work.

Project update: Tłı̨chǫ Investment Corporation (TIC) and Solvest Inc., are both dedicated to Indigenous business partnership and a sustainable future in Canada’s North and have reached substantial completion of the construction of a 3.5 MW solar project at Tio Tinto’s Diavik Diamond Mine.
As the Wildfire season typically runs from early April to late October we have seen that it has started with catastrophic results throughout Alberta and as of last night in the NT with Hay River being evacuated and alerts for Enterprise as wildfire burns through forests and grasslands, it produces dense smoke that can be a major source of toxic air pollutants.
With just a few minor tasks, like internet wiring, left to finish by Sunday.
