With the snow melted and the weather warms, many construction and outdoor worksites enter their busiest season. While spring and summer eliminate winter-specific risks like deep snow and black ice, they introduce a new set of hazards that can be just as dangerous, especially when it comes to slips, trips, and falls. Rainstorms, muddy grounds, loose gravel, wet decking, and exposed cables become much more common.

Tłıchǫ Investment Corporation (TIC) is working in collaboration with Burgundy Diamond Mines, Tłıchǫ Government & Aurora College to provide training to Tłıchǫ Residents through a 4-week (2 weeks in, 1 week out, 2 weeks in) Introduction to Heavy Equipment Operator program (followed by a temporary work placement program consisting of 4 X 2-week rotations), located at the Ekati Diamond Mine site.
